Charm.
Charms carved from coconut and known as Marupai were the tools of
sorcerer's throughout the East Papuan Gulf.
It is thought that when called upon the Marupai can; fly, talk to
the owner in dreams, help to interpret omens and even tell of other
villagers secrets.
Magical substances are pushed into the Marupai's mouth to make it
'hot' such as special barks and even small pieces of human flesh can
be used.
